Advanced Knee Replacement Surgery From Experienced Joint Replacement Specialists
Chronic knee pain can make it difficult to stay active and enjoy the activities you love. For patients whose knee pain continues despite conservative treatment, Mako robotic-arm assisted technology may offer a more personalized approach to knee replacement surgery.
At Orthopedic Associates, Mako Total Knee Replacement is performed by experienced joint replacement specialists:
Using Mako technology, our surgeons develop a personalized surgical plan based on your unique anatomy and utilize real-time guidance throughout the knee replacement surgery.

What Is Mako Total Knee Replacement?
Mako is an advanced robotic-arm assisted system used during total knee replacement surgery. Before your procedure, a CT scan is used to create a detailed 3D model of your knee joint, allowing your surgeon to better understand your anatomy and prepare a customized surgical plan.
During surgery, Mako technology provides real-time guidance that helps your surgeon carry out the personalized plan while remaining in complete control of the procedure. The technology assists with implant placement and helps ensure the surgical plan is followed throughout the operation.
How Mako Technology Works
The Mako process begins with a CT scan of your knee, which is used to create a three-dimensional model of your joint. This detailed information allows your surgeon to evaluate your anatomy and develop a surgical plan tailored to your specific needs.
During surgery, the surgeon uses Mako technology to assist with preparing the bone and positioning the implant according to the personalized plan. The technology also allows adjustments to be made during the procedure as needed.
It's important to understand that Mako does not perform surgery, make decisions on its own, or move without the guidance of your surgeon. Your orthopedic surgeon remains in control throughout the entire procedure.
Who May Benefit From Mako Knee Replacement?
Mako Total Knee Replacement may be an option for patients with knee pain caused by degenerative joint disease and other conditions, including:
- Osteoarthritis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Post-traumatic arthritis
If medications, injections, physical therapy, activity modification, or other conservative treatments have not provided adequate relief, knee replacement surgery may be recommended.
