Orthopedic Associates Expanding Hospital Affiliations to Include SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton

Being on staff at the SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton enables Dr. Bell, Dr. Mudd and Dr. Pitts to offer expanded access to their patients in addition to offering the Fenton community and surrounding areas specialized orthopedic care for the hand and upper extremity, hip and knee as well as joint replacement and sports medicine care.

Dr. Bell is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in the hand and upper extremity. He is an expert in treating orthopedic problems from the shoulder to the hand in adults and offers the latest, evidence-based treatments, including small joint replacement for the elbow, wrist and finger joints. Dr. Bell received his medical degree from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. He completed an internship at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond and his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Missouri, also in Kansas City. Dr. Bell then completed specialty training in hand surgery through a combined fellowship of the University of Virginia and the American Sports Medicine Institute in Charlottesville, followed by additional fellowship training in hand surgery and upper extremity sports medicine through the University of Virginia at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama.

A board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Mudd specializes in pain, arthritis, deformities and injuries of the adult hip and knee. His practice consists primarily of surgical and nonsurgical management of knee and hip problems. He earned his medical degree from Saint Louis University and completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at the SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. He then received fellowship training in adult hip and knee reconstruction from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Dr. Pitts is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and one of the few surgeons in St. Louis subspecialty board-certified in sports medicine through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, knee and hip, total joint replacements and treatment of work-related injuries. Dr. Pitts graduated medical school from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and received his orthopedic surgery residency training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Following residency, he underwent fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the Washington University Physicians in St. Louis.

The SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton serves the medical needs of southwest St. Louis County, specializing in cancer care, heart and vascular, neurosciences and maternity. It is a Level I Time Critical Diagnosis STEMI Center as well as a Level I Stroke Center.
