My Comeback Story: Rhonda S.

Rhonda-S
I Walked the Golden Gate Bridge

My knee gave out. The pain was excruciating. I couldn't walk. I just hopped and limped from object to object to get around. The next day a lady saw me limping from my car to the UPS office. My husband drove me cause I had just taken drugs and was headed to get an MRI. The lady watched me, then asked "have you had knee surgery?" Nope, I say but I'm on my way to find out what's going on. Then she said, "well I hope you'll be okay but if you need to have knee surgery I'd like to recommend Dr. Kramer who did mine two years ago." She gave me her phone number to call, if I needed. I just looked at her. After the MRI results I knew. So, I called Gloria and got Dr. Kramer's information and boy did she encourage me. See I thought I was too old and she told me she had it done in her 70's and she made me promise to at least talk to Dr. Kramer about my concerns. LISTEN. Gloria was a Godsend! I would not have known what to expect or who to call otherwise. After a conversation with Dr. Kramer, I knew that bad knee was going to get worse. I was distressed Lord knows I didn't want to have surgery! But if I can't walk, I cant get anything done. Dr. Kramer was kind, he saw how overwhelmed I was, but his soft spoken demeanor along with his real concern convinced me it needed to be done. So I prayed about it and asked God to give me a quick recovery. Two weeks after the surgery in May 2025, I was bending that knee at 190 degrees. Three months later, I walked 5.5 miles across the Golden Gate bridge, not to mention the time it took me to walk to bridge my hotel in China town. Yesterday, 11/4/25 was my 6 month follow up visit. The scar is almost nonexistent and I FEEL GREAT!!! So much that I'm headed to a Mission's trip in Africa in Feb 26. Dr. Kramer said I was an inspiration to him. No way. I would not have done this surgery without him and meeting that lady, Gloria, who I now call my friend. And guess what she was 78 for her surgery, and me now 67, (birthday last month). Shoot, I feel like RUNN-NIING!! Heyyyyy Forrest Gump, get outta my way!! LOL
