Orthopedic Associates Providing Telemedicine and Clinical Care During COVID-19

In order to reduce potential exposure to COVID-19 while providing essential services for bone, joint and muscle conditions, Orthopedic Associates has implemented telemedicine virtual evaluations for new and established patients. Appointments using telemedicine allow patients to safely visit with one of the practice’s specialty-trained providers via interactive video conferencing through a smartphone, tablet, computer or laptop. The practice’s main office in St. Louis, at 1050 Old Des Peres Road, Suite 100, also remains open while following local and national guidelines. In addition to lowering exposure risk at the practice, these care measures will also help Orthopedic Associates relieve pressure on hospitals, emergency rooms and urgent care facilities so that those providers can focus on COVID-19 cases.

“As healthcare providers, the office will remain open as has been encouraged by St. Louis County officials during this ‘Stay at Home’ order,” says Orthopedic Associates Practice President Dr. Ryan Pitts. “We are dedicated to ensuring that St. Louis and the surrounding communities have quick and safe access to essential care for orthopedic injuries.

“Our top priority is keeping our patients and staff safe,” continues Dr. Pitts. “We have also updated our processes to include offering virtual evaluations of nonurgent orthopedic problems for new and existing patients through telemedicine.”

Using telemedicine, Orthopedic Associates’ specialty-trained experts will be able to provide patients with follow-up care as well as initial diagnosis and consultation for a majority of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. This convenient new solution is a secure technology that will offer area residents accurate, highly specialized care while staying at home. Patients requesting a telemedicine appointment will need access to a smartphone, tablet or a computer with a working microphone or camera, internet and use of Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari web browsers.

“Telemedicine will help Orthopedic Associates minimize the risk of potential viral exposure to individuals who need access to high-quality orthopedic care during this pandemic,” says Dr. Pitts. “For patients needing urgent orthopedic evaluation or imaging, arrangements can be made to be seen in the office during our regular business hours — this will help us provide relief for area ERs, hospitals and urgent cares.”
