Keith Wilkey, MD
Keith Wilkey, MD is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with specialization in spine surgery and worker’s compensation. He provides surgical and nonsurgical care of sports or work related injuries, and defects or diseases of the spinal column. Dr. Wilkey graduated first in his medical class at Wright State University School of Medicine. He completed his Rotating Transitional Internship and Orthopedic Residency at Brooke Army Center. In addition, Dr. Wilkey completed a Spine Fellowship at Leatherman Spine Institute, University of Louisville. Dr. Wilkey was honored with several awards during his academic career, including the China Medical Board Traveling Scholar.
Dr. Wilkey is a Veteran of the US Army and served as a Brigade Surgeon in Germany during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He served as Chief of Orthopedics at Fort Drum MEDDAC in Watertown, NY. Dr. Wilkey is the recipient of multiple Army Achievement and Commendation Medals and ribbons for service in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Southwest Asia. He received the Third Place Commander’s Award for Outstanding House Staff Research.
Dr. Wilkey serves as Voluntary Staff at the St. Louis University Department of Surgery. He is a Former Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
Dr. Wilkey is distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and North American Spine Society. He is a member of the Missouri State Orthopedic Association. Dr. Wilkey’s numerous peer-reviewed articles include such subjects as femoral intramedullary nails and patellar fractures in the elderly. Dr. Wilkey national presentations include events for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons, and National Association of Orthopedic Nurses.
