Meet Our Doctors

Herbert Haupt, MD is the President of Orthopedic Associates. Dr. Haupt is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in sports medicine, general orthopaedics, and Worker’s Compensation. Dr. Haupt was one of the first orthopedic surgeons in St. Louis to complete board recertification twice, the most recent in 2007. Board recertification is a program to demonstrate continued expertise as an orthopedic surgeon.

 

Dr. Haupt earned his Medical Degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Haupt completed his internship in General Surgery and Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital associated with Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem.

 

Dr. Haupt has served as Chief of Staff and on the Board of Trustees at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. He is the Former Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at the HealthSouth Surgery Center of West County. Dr. Haupt has served as the Drug Testing Crew Chief for the United States Olympic Committee. He is a Former Team Physician for the US Soccer Federation, including the Men’s US Soccer Team. Additionally, he has served as Team Physician for high school, college, and professional teams.

 

Dr. Haupt is a member of the American Medical Association, American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, Wake Forest Sports Medicine Alumni Organization, St. Louis Orthopedic Society, St. Louis Arthroscopy Club, Missouri Medical Association, St. Louis Medical Society, Missouri State Orthopedic Association, and St. Louis Regional Occupational Medical Society. 

Dr. Haupt’s articles are published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and serves as a guest lecturer at the college level. He is a sought after guest for radio and television interviews, especially about anabolic steroids. Dr. Haupt was featured for several years on KSDK Channel 5 “Safe Sporting” segments, a television segment that discussed common sports related injuries.

Dr. Haupt’s interviews are published in a variety of popular forums, including The Washington Post, Family Circle Magazine, Kiplinger’s, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today.
