David King, MD

David King, MDDavid King, MD is an Orthopedic Surgeon with specialization in hip arthroscopy, sports medicine, and general orthopedics. Dr. King has expertise in arthroscopic and open surgery of the hip, shoulder, elbow, and knee. Dr. King has a unique interest in arthroscopic treatment to prevent or delay the onset of hip arthritis in adolescents, young adults, and adults with hip problems. He addresses hip impingement and labral tears with arthroscopic labral repair, using boney anchors similar to those used in shoulder surgery. Dr. King also performs hip resurfacing and total joint replacement for people with advanced arthritis that are not candidates for arthroscopic treatment.
 
Dr. King earned his Medical Degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He completed a five-year Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. During that time, Dr. King provided care for the St. Louis Rams, St. Louis Cardinals, and Washington University Bears. As a Chief Resident, he performed medical examinations at the 2006 NFL Combine. 
 
Dr. King completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, CO with focus on the treatment of injuries to the shoulder, elbow, and knee and a special emphasis on arthroscopic treatment of hip pain and abnormalities. Dr. King spent extensive time training with Marc Philipon, a world-renowned pioneer in hip arthroscopy. Dr. King provided care for the United States Ski and Snowboard Teams, while in Vail. Additionally, he performed hip arthroscopy on numerous professional athletes in the NFL, Premier Soccer League, and NHL.
 
Throughout his academic career, Dr. King has had extensive involvement in orthopedic research. His specific projects have focused on advances in hip arthroscopy, cartilage regeneration, shoulder replacement surgery, and lower deformity correction. Dr. King’s research is published in peer-reviewed journals and earned him the Leonard Marmor Foundation Award while he was at Washington University.
 
Dr. King enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and two sons. His interests include golf, fly fishing, skiing, and barbecuing.
